What is your question?
My 2001 ranger is making a squeaking noise as described in the mention about engine problems; however it seems to be coming from the transmission area... no noticeable problems with the tranny other than the noise.. could it be the sensors?

If it sounds like crickets and the sound seems to be coming from the back of the engine (near the firewall), it's most likely the camshaft synchronizer. The part costs between $50 and $65 and is fairly straight foward to change out, I do recommend however you get a Haynes repair manual since you'll have to set #1 cylinder at Top Dead Center (TDC).
