When you like truck idle sounds like its skipping and eventually shut off but cranks right up. Whats making engine shut off? Also when first cranked i have a ticking noise coming from the exhaust manifold.

The ticking noise is the lifters inside the engine,when the oil pressure comes up ticking stops,this is normal in older trucks/cars.As far as it stopping or shutting off while idling it probally the air flow sensor.
