Engine Thermostat gauge went straight to hot when I started my Camry. What is the problem?

You probably have an electrical problem, like the engine coolant gauge sensor circuit being shorted and causing that gauge to immediately rise with the engine cold. I'm assuming that you mean that the engine's cold when you start it and the gauge rises immediately. Try simply turning the key to RUN, without starting the cold engine and see what the gauge does. If it stays on cold, and quickly goes to hot once the engine's running, you may have a faulty thermostat.
