My 2002 Monte CArlo losses power as it is trying to climb hills. RPM's rev up but no power. Can you tell me why?

Double check the fluid level in the transmission because if the RPM's are reving higher than normal that mean the transmission is slipping and will need to be inspected by a repair shop to determine the exact cause
It's your catalytic converter. It's probably stopped up causing loss of power. If let go to long, the car will start using oil, delay first-to-second shifts, make strange noise from right front, make a deep droning noise, and make it seem like your transmission is slipping and it will not cause your SRS light to come on. Call your local dealer, ask the service manager if the are any recalls on your catalitic converter. GM had a recall that replaced them on certain makes and models. If not search around, you can find replacements at fairly reasonable prices and changing them are fairly easy. Most are part of a exhaust pipe that unbolts at the engine and behind the converter.
