I collect and build Muscle cars as a hobby and a way to pay college tuition. Currently I have a 1963 Corvette split window #1 condition, 1966 427 Corvette coupe w/sidepipes Survivor, 1974 Pontiac Trans Am 455 #2 condition, !970 Dodge Charger 500 w/440 six pac in the paint shop and a 1965 Chevy Malibu 427 Tunnel Ram in line for the works

If you have a AAA card some of them have a battery service,(AAA in San Francisco has them) And they have batteries in stock and will come out to your location and install for you, If you don't have AAA any tow truck driver should be able to move you car back far enough to get to the battery.

Sounds like a vacuum leak If its doing it when you hit the brake possibly the brake booster or the vacuum line to the booster has a leak

Bring them back to the parts store with the old shoe that you just removed for a sample, They probably gave you the wrong shoes. All the name brand shoes have a 574 number on them (FB574 or 17574B or R574 for example)

Pull the spark plugs to see if one of the cylinders is full of coolant as it could have hydraulic fluid lockup from a bad head or head gasket

If your Blazer continues to run with the key in the off position then your ignition lock cylinder needs replacement and when running it could be intermittently cutting the ignition off and causing the missing. My book shows 2 hours to replace the ignition lock cylinder plus parts

The book time to replace the lock cylinder is about 1.1 hours plus parts, These are tough to change if you haven't done this before, Have a shop do this as it will have a warranty
