Engine noise, top left side of vehicle if observer is facing the car. Camshaft?

More than likely a broken rocker arm, but it can also be a broken valve spring. Both problems can lead to an engine failure, the biggest worry would be the valve spring. Don't rev the engine it can fail in a second. I suggest having it trucked to the repair shop and tell them to pull the valve, on the side with the noise cover for a look.
