engine bogs down when I turn the air conditioner on

The idle control system should be compensating for the extra engine load added by the ac compressor. It sounds like its not and idling too low which would make it feel like the engine is running rough. My first thought on the ac is maybe the freon is too low. I'd start with a ac performance test to verify freon level, and go from there.

if it runs rough, you may want to look at the plugs, wires and coils. it may be missfiring under load causing this condition. have a shop check and verify. Roy
