Electrical Short

Radio saying enter code is normal if the battery has been disconnected ,it is not a sign of a short just that power to the radio has been interrupted. When jump starting the car allow the car you are jump starting your car with to run for five minutes, perhaps your battery is totally dead or the jumper cables you are using are not making good connections or capable of carrying a heavy current. Perhaps your battery has a dead short internally. Make sure your battery connections are clean tight and secure. Your battery may be 5 years old and near the end of its life anyway.
