Just bought a 06 Buick LaCrosse. Turn the radio on after a few minutes it will sound like it's trying to eat a cd the theft light goes crazy and then the dash quits working everything electrical stops working and if you turn the car off it won't start again. Let set a few hours then starts right up with no problems until you turn radio on again. Where should I start looking I replaced all my grounds for everything.
What makes this problem better or worse?

Hello, That's an odd one. Since the radio is sounding as if it's eating a CD, I first wonder if the radio unit is faulty. It is connected to data lines that connect with the rest of the vehicle, and the harness for the radio is integrated into the harness with the entire dash. If the issue is not the radio itself, you have a lot of pinpoint testing to do in order to identify if you have a short or open. Particularly the data lines to the radio are of interest. Look for corrosion as well. You might have some in the radio, connectors, or elsewhere down the line of the circuit. This will likely not be an easy fix, and you will likely end up bringing it to a technician. If you ecide to use an aftermarket radio, you absolutely must use an adapter. It will have allow you to route all wires where they need to go and keep the data lines intact.
I was thinking the same thing but I decided to try unplugging the stock amp the problem seem to stop but now the trunk won’t open and the doors won’t lock even with the remote? Almost thinking it’s all to do with the amp and head unit?
