Driver's side window wont work

Just a few days ago my driver's side window stopped working. I can make the passenger side window go up and down from the driver's side switch but when I try to move the driver's side window up or down , i hear a grinding noise, like two plastic gears are rubbing together. I know the window motor is good because hitching it up to a 12volt source i can make it go up and down fine. I took the switch out and tested it with a meter just like it says to do at Hmaservice.com and it says that I have a bad switch because I couldn't get continuity on some of the wires. I ordered a new switch and hitched it up but the new one still makes that grinding noise. Please help me. P.S. the noise is coming from the switch.
