Does the AC line need to be attached to the radiator for the car to run?

I hit a deer and I need a new radiator, but I'm wondering if there is a way I could either use the car without the AC line going into the radiator so a mechanic doesn't drain my bank account, or if there is a way I can redo the AC myself, again to save money? I'm not quite well versed in cars, so if something needs more clarifying let me know.
