What is your question?
First time this happpend, I went to pick my wife up at work, turned off the ignition for 10mins, and tried to start when we were ready to leave but it would not start nor crank. I have replaced the starter and my mech says the battery and alternator are fine. In the last 2 days, the car won't start nor crank in the morning, but by the time my mechanic comes over, it would start once, severally.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Possibly cold weather, since its happened twice in the morning but the first time was a warm afternoon
How long has your 2009 Dodge Caliber had this problem?
2 weeks

Hello, Remove the relay for the starter, put it in the fridge, read up or watch a video for testing relays, then pull it out and test it. If it tests good, then warm it up with a hair dryer and to the same. If the relay is good in both cases, the next time it does not start, remove the relay and see if you are getting 12v on one of the four wires ONLY when the ignition is turned to 'START'. There should be a constant 12v to a second wire. If you have two wires that have 12v all the time, plug one lead into either one and find out which one grounds all the time. The wire that provides neither power nor ground when the ignition is in the ON or RUN position is the ignition switch. You want to see if that wire is grounded when the ignition is turned to START. if it is not, diagnose the ignition switch (electrical portion}.
