What is your question?
I have a 2002 ford explorer. I wasnt having any issues but 1 day I went to start it up and heard a loud noise and it wouldn't start. We tried replacing the starter already and that wasnt it. Any ideas?

One could have broken or jumped timing. All these or most of the Explorers 8th digit of VIN "E" have problems with the chains rattling due to the timing chain cassettes wearing out causing rattling and some do break, there are 3 chains. It's very costly to replace the chains and components and if you do the one in the rear, the engine has to come out! If this is what your problem is or 1 or more chains has broken/jumped time, then the engine is more than likely damaged and it would be a LOT cheaper to purchase a used engine from a scrap yard. copy and paste the link below,6 pages of reading for you. good luck.... https://repairpal.com/worn-timing-chain-cassettes-may-cause-rattling-noise-from-engine-439#
