my wife was driving beetle and it died -- got it towed to dealer - they said fule filter and bad battery - replaced both - they could not get it to run -- then they said the desel - smelled like gas - (i know it was not gas ) they replaced gas with diesel still wont start - they said fulr injrctor 3,100 buck - i said stop and now it's in my drive way - it will star with just a little starter fluid but wont run - would the fule injrctor really just die like that and take out the battery - what are the odds both would happen?? - what should i do it is just a third car for us and 3100 is to much money for a repair

Dear J. Fowlkes, You need to have your VW Diesel scanned properly to find out what the real problem is. Your VW has a computer controlled Diesel Engine and it can now be scanned just like 2001 gasoline cars. This is the best way to see what is missing in terms of what the VW needs to start and run properly. There should be several good German car shops in Austin who can properly do this kind of work with out having to go to the VW dealer. Best of Luck!
