crunching/grinding noise when I turn left

Is the noise a click click click sound that increases with the volocity of the tight turn? If so it would be the CV/axle shaft. Most likely what you are hearing is that the sway bar end link has broken. I have replaced a lot of them I believe the part costs about $40 and takes 20 minutes to fit.

The cause of this in my 2003 Forester 2.5 XS was a heat shield that needed to be re-welded. Total cost was $95. I would have sworn it was a CV joint or wheel bearings but it was most definitely not. Heat shield issues are well-known Subaru problems. Look it up.
