Cruise Control working sporadically

What is your question?

Nearing 100k miles, but have been having this problem since about 60k miles. The cruise control sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I can't seem to find a pattern in the sporadic behavior of it. The repair manager at my Honda dealership told me it MIGHT be a VERY pricey repair, but they can't get the CC to NOT work whenever I take it in. Any ideas?
