Coolant light cycle on

my has done the same thing. the light is on and there is no problem. coolent in the reservoir, temp guage remains the same, no engine indicators from an auto zone box check, and a mechanic checked it. Conclusion is that the "idiot light" is malfunctioning. it will cost too much to have an electrition to track it doen and turn it off.
