This sounds like one of two things:
1. fuel delivery is below threshold. For this issue you will need to test for fuel pressure at the fuel rail, and ensure there is not pressure bleed off after the fuel filter primes. This could also be restriction in the fuel pressure regulator, but a fuel system pressure test will flush out the answer.
2. Large vacuum leaks developing can cause your vehicle to run extremely lean, causing the amount of air entering the engine to overwhelm the stoichiometric balance between air and fuel. In other words, the engine will suck in more air from the air filter and the vacuum leak simultaneously, but the engine management system cannot provide such a large amount of fuel.
Testing for vacuum leaks is as easy as clamping lines to listen for change in running conditions, and spraying a fine mist of water across the running engine until you find a place that changes the sound of the engine.
Testing the fuel system pressures may be best done by a professional.
