car misses, at full acceleration care tries to stall and misses, runs ok when I back off accelerator at highway apeed, yet idles eratically.

is your check engine light on? of course it is. the first step is to find out what codes are there and what cylinders are involved. the free scan that some parts stores offer may no provide enough info; you may need a good local MB specialty shop to diagnose this issue.
