Cannot shift into gear

Have some look to see if your brake lights are working, if they are not the brake light switch is most likely faulty( this switch also controls the shifter lock out) For now you might be able to turn the ignition key one click and put the car in neutral, you should now be able to start it and pick any gear you want.
