Hello, The power steering system is less complicated in the G6 because it is simply electronic. There are no hydraulic lines, no pump, and no fluid to deal with. That being said, if the assist motor has failed, you will likely end up removing the steering column to replace the motor, or replacing it as an assembly. You may have a blown fuse, and there are two to check: Under the hood, fuse 41 (80A) In the cabin, EPS fuse (2A) Also, make sure the ground cable on top of the strut tower is connected, clean, and tight. Otherwise, have the system diagnosed before deciding if you are willing to take on the repair yourself,
Running Great....make a stop then return & drive...*power steering* alert appears being 15/20% usable..got home..do the did, read owners manual, got in, started "to turn wheel side to side"....NOT REQUIRED!!! WORKS GREAT!!!!.....so wtf???
