Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. So sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. It sounds like the rear cam gear on your V6 Eclipse is giving you a tough time. The timing marks need to line up perfectly, and if the cam keeps jumping a few teeth, it could be due to tension issues or the camshaft not being held in place while setting the belt. Make sure the timing belt tensioner is fully released to keep the belt tight, and double-check that the camshaft is in the correct position before installing the belt. A little patience and attention to detail should get everything lined up properly! If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered.
