Can Rainx permanently ruin a plastic headlight?

(1999 Honda Civic)
in Sebastian, FL on April 21, 2009
I followed the directions on the bottle of Rainx -- "can be applied to windows, foglights and headlights" and so I did that. When it came time to wipe off the haze for a crystal clear look, the headlights were cloudy-looking and the plastic was no longer smooth like it was before the Rainx application. Did I permanently ruin the headlights?

Honda head light plastic does haze. Meguiars make a product that helps clean it up. Inquire at any parts store or body shop to see what product they would suggest but I have used Meguires.
