Can I use 105 amp alternator in 99 buick lesabre limited 3.8 instead of 140amp

I have a different alternator that a friend gave me it's 105 amp the plugin connects from the 124 amp alternator that is currently on there everywhere Ive checked says the alternator is originally 140 amps I need to know if I have to use 140 or can I switch to the 105Amps
