All fluids ok. Instrument panel temperature guage ok reading, oil can icon lit up on inst panel. Drove home last night and heater did not work and got in garage and burning smell strong, like burning metal. Could it be the oil pump?

Have you checked your oil level? Narrow down the area of the leak, front? rear? left? right? Oil light during engine operation suggest drop in oil pressure and can be potentially harm engine internals. Locate the oil pressure switch as it could be leaking through the switch, causing the light to come on and pouring oil all over your exhaust.
