What is your question?
My 2002 Saturn has been burning oil for quite some time. It now has about 147,000 miles and the oil burning seems to have started at about 60,000 miles; it's been getting steadily worse. The "Service Engine Soon" light never goes out. I've spent hundreds of $ to have mechanics solve the problem - no one has been able to fix it. Should I (a) have the motor rebuilt; (b) replace the motor; or (c) get rid of the car entirely? Thanks.

sounds like you have several problems (1) if you pay for a repair and it does not "fix" the problem, you need to take it back and insist on either a refund or they need to fix the problem. (2) sounds like you have used the wrong mechanic all along (3) with Saturn being discontinued, parts are sometimes hard to get, so you are married to an orphan (4) rebuilding the motor or replacing it is not the answer; you need to ask others who the most honest independent shop is in town...not the cheapest; you want the guys with the great reputation. ask them for an evaluation of this car.
