Burning oil

that's probably why it was sold..they got tired of adding oil.that's really not bad,2 quarts in 3000 miles with 271,000 miles on it.i have a 2000 F150,just turned over yesterday to 325,000 miles.i have to add oil to my 4.6L engine(very quiet engine),but hey,i would rather add oil than buy an engine! not sure if leaking? put a piece of cardboard under the engine on the ground when you park it for the day/night!
