The piston rings could be stuck in the pistons and allowing oil to get past the pistons into the combustion chamber if the engine has been running on dirty oil for a long time or if the engine has been overheated. It's possible the valve guide seals are worn out also. If your oil is very dirty or old it may burn more oil than it should.
