My driver side brake/tail light keeps breaking. had 4 bulbs replaced approx. 1 month ago...2 weeks ago was pulled over by a trooper with a brake light out...and after fixing that, found out today the SAME LIGHT is broken again. they're being smashed...is there something inside the assembly causing this, or is it just another problem in the long line of volkswagen curses?

Make sure you don't have water inside the taillight lens. This will cause the bulb to shatter when it gets hot and contacts the water. If there is water in the lens it may be due to a cracked lens or a leaking lens seal.
Thanks for the advice, i will give this a check today when i change the light. it DID just rain the other day, it could be water getting in there.
