Brake light problem

(1990 Lexus LS400)
Passenger side brake light shuts off when brake pedal stepped on. Double filament bulb is okay as checked on the driver side light lamp housing.

Sounds like the bulb is on until you step on the brake and then it goes out.
If so, I'd say there's a wiring problem related to the taillights, probably a bad ground. Using your meter or testlight, check for power and ground at the light socket with the brake pedal depressed and released. I think there's a bad connection between the socket and the ground point.
