why is brake light on?

If you mean the brake lights stay on .The brake light switch has most likely failed. Remove a 5Amp fuse fuse 6 in the fuse box to prevent your battery from going dead over night. The switch is located at the brake pedal. If the brake warning light on the dash is on the brake fluid level is probably low signifying a leak in the brake hydraulic system or more likely the brake pads are worn and the fluid level drops to compensate for the worn brake pads.
