BMW 760LI loses power and exhaust manifest glowing?

Glowing hot manifold may be a sign of a restricted exhaust (most likely a bad cat converter), it could be slipped/retarded timing on one side of the engine. Perhaps an ignition or fuel problem on one side of the engine, a vacuum leak or engine mechanical problem, has contributed to the cat failure.
