What is your question?
My 2006 Honda pilot runs for 20 minutes then starts stalling. I haven’t had a car in 5 months single mom of 2. My dad thinks it is the catalytic converters there is 3 in my car. Would this be the cause? If so what’s the best catalytic converter cleaner? Or is it a waste of money? My dad knows how to work on cars but we are at a loss on what the problem could be. And I can’t afford a mechanic.
What makes this problem better or worse?

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! It sounds like you've got your hands full, and a car that's stalling out after 20 minutes is definitely a headache. Your dad might be onto something with the catalytic converters. If they're clogged, they can cause stalling after the engine heats up. As for catalytic converter cleaners, they can help if there's a mild buildup, but they’re not a magic fix if the converters are seriously clogged. You might try a reputable brand like Cataclean, which some folks have had success with. But keep in mind, if the converters are too far gone, a cleaner might just be money down the drain. One thought is to disconnect the catalysts to see if the car runs without them. There should be two banks that are monitored and one that isn't. Before you jump to any conclusions, though, you might want to check if there's anything else causing the stalling—like the fuel pump or ignition system. It might be worth running a scan to see if any trouble codes pop up that could point you in the right direction.
