Bad acceleration, I smell unburned gas and it has horrible (10mpg) gas mileage

You seem to have a pretty serious fuel control issue -- or a restricted catalytic converter. Have a diagnosis done as soon as possible, as raw fuel getting burned does nothing good for your engine or exhaust.

Replace distributor caps, plugs, and plug wires. do a compression test on the cylinders, and verify that each plug is getting spark. if you have good compression (110LB+ and no more than 15 Lbs difference cylinder to cylinder) then you most likely have a leaking injector, or a timing issue.

I don't have the answer but I am having the same problem.
