What is your question?
About one month ago, I notice a half circle shaped crack in the dashboard on the left side of the passenger side air bag cover. A week later I noticed a 5 inch crack on the right side of the same cover. Now I notice a crack running down the lower part of the dash just at the left edge of the airbag cover. It almost looks like the edge of the airbag cover is etending down. I went to my Toyota dealer and they claimed that they had heard about any Avalons with this type of problem and generously offered to replace the dash for $1,900.00, and I would have to pay half. My car has always been garaged and well kept. No animals have ever been in the car and children have always rode the back seat. Any ideas.
My 2006 Avalon has cracks all over first a long crack down the dash, under the steering wheel by my leg, down the left side of the glove box, cracks are all over the now from one end of the dash to the other. I will never buy another Toyota. Call the manufacturer said not under warranty. Want even pay half to help get it fixed. Under a carport unless at work.
I also have a 2006 xls avalon with the same problem...cracks. They are all over my dash as well. At first I thought someone had put a knife to it (LOL) but then started seeing more and more. Consumer problem, dont think so if it is with more than a dozen cars having the same problem.
Why is this a consumer issue and not a manufacturer issue. I have a 1999 Mustang that has no problems like this. Seems to me that the dashboard material is not up to quality standards when it developes cracks without a cause.
and I agree. the material may not be up to some standards but they feel that there product needs to be taken care of better in the heat where the problem actually lies. Roy
I have a 06 Avalon Limited doing the exact same thing. Anyone know where I can find an online illustration of the dash that delineates dash panel parts numbers? If I can find a part number and a source I'll replace it myself. I've owned Toyota's since 1979 and one thing common to all of them is an emission from the vinyl materials they use. I notice that a film haze forms on the cabin windshield during the summer months. To me, it's evident the vinyl breaks down after repeated exposure to direct sunlight. I purchased my Avalon in Florida and only recently relocated to Maryland. The dash cracked in 2013.
