Q: Anti-Theft system is malfunctioning on 2001 Chevrolet Malibu

Frequently (3-4 times per day) the anti-theft system activates because the car does not start immediately. I have to wait 10 mins to try again. Is there any way to turn this off?

No, the theft system problem on your 2001 Chevrolet Malibu cannot be turned off. The problem you are having is most likely with the ignition lock cylinder which includes the "passlock" sensor. Theft system fault codes are set in the Body Control Module. Code B2960 is the fault code related to the ignition lock cylinder. A new lock cylinder will need to be "coded" to match your current key and a "theft system relearn" will need to be preformed after the lock cylinder is replaced.
My anti-theft system had my car not starting. the day before it happen it came on. the next day it would not start. I had to get it replace.
I had the same problem and ended up having to replace the lock sensor thing because the theft system was malfunctioning
if you leave your key in the ignition for 10 minutes the "theft system" light will turn off and you can start the car.
