Air conditioner was running fine on a 90 degree day. Then, no cold air. Smoking from fan belt area under the hood. Smoke stopped when AC turned off. Nw just a grinding sound whenever the AC is turned on. No cool air.

Your compressor or compressor clutch is seizing up and will likely need replacement if found to be the issue.
