when air is turned on my comp will engage slightly then unengage, it keeps doing this repeatedly. It seems to not be engaging fully. I hooked a gauge up to the low side line and it reads low when the clutch is not engaged then when the clutch does engage the gauge jumps way up in the red

Better off having a tech service your ac unit, if you damage your compressor it will cost three times as much to repair it.
