(2002 Pontiac Sunfire)
in Albuquerque, NM on April 21, 2011
my air condition does not get cold even even after i put more air conditon coolant inside it. it was already full with coolant, all the fuses were fine, but i need to find out if there is a low pressure switch on this car. does anyone have any suggestions? the car has no previous incidents. the air conditioner was working fine last spring but never used it until now.

The air conditioning system requires a full charge of refrigerant, no restrictions in the system causing pressure to get too high, no leaks, a functioning coil and clutch at the compressor, and a cycle switch that powers the coil at the appropriate time. Some systems also have a high pressure cut off switch.

Something in that system has failed - and it's all guesswork until you do the testing needed to find out what is wrong.

check to see if your compressor is working and if the fan is coming on
