After replacing PCM does the check engine light need to be reset

Hello, how did you replace the PCM? What diagnostic tool was used? Why was it replaced in the first place? You realize that replacing an engine's processor requires taking data from the old processor and programming the new one for proper operation, and also -- the problem causing the check engine light to come on may very well be still present, as it was unlikely to be caused by a faulty processor!
