Honda (american honda motor co.) is recalling certain 2011-2013 acura tsx, tsx sportswagon, zdx, honda accord, accord crosstour, fit, insight and pilot vehicles, 2011 honda civic, civic ngv, civic hybrid and cr-v vehicles and 2013 honda fcx clarity and fit ev vehicles ever registered in the states of alabama, california, florida, georgia, hawaii, louisiana, mississippi, south carolina, texas, puerto rico, american samoa, guam, the northern mariana islands (saipan), and the u.s. virgin islands or "zone a." additionally, honda is recalling certain 2010 acura tsx, zdx, honda accord, accord crosstour, civic, civic ngv, civic hybrid, cr-v, fit, insight, and pilot vehicles ever registered in the states of arizona, arkansas, delaware, district of columbia, illinois, indiana, kansas, kentucky, maryland, missouri, nebraska, nevada, new jersey, new mexico, north carolina, ohio, oklahoma, pennsylvania, tennessee, virginia, and west virginia or "zone b." unless included in zones a or b above, honda is recalling certain 2009 acura tsx, honda accord, civic, civic ngv, civic hybrid, cr-v, fit, and pilot vehicles ever registered in the states of alaska, colorado, connecticut, idaho, iowa, maine, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, montana, new hampshire, new york, north dakota, oregon, rhode island, south dakota, utah, vermont, washington, wisconsin, and wyoming or "zone c." these vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment (such as after a vehicle crash necessitating replacement of the original air bags), may explode due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to lower absolute humidity, temperature and temperature cycling.

The passenger frontal air bag assembly is deployed by an inflator which contains propellant that makes the air bag deploy. This propellant may degrade over time, especially when exposed to humidity and temperature cycling. As a result, the inflator may rupture on deployment, which can send metal shrapnel through the air bag, striking vehicle occupants. This could result in serious injury or death.

Recall repairs on your Honda or Acura must be performed by a Honda or Acura dealership, respectively. American Honda will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in February, 2018. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Honda or Acura dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Honda recall numbers are B0K and L0J.

Honda will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning April 21, 2010. There are no symptoms related to this recall. If you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call. The Honda recall number is R34.
