Your an owner of a Porche and you want to fix it yourself, GO FIGURE?
It doesn't sound like a fuel problem to me. These cars are fuel injected which requires the right mixture of gasoline and oxygen. I replaced the Mass Air Flow sensor in my 1999 Boxster after having the same problem you describe. The car runs like new. While you're at it replace the air filter. This is a 15 minute job and anyone can do it.
Don't try to fix this problem find a mechanic who works on porsche. I found some one by asking around. This guy owns 2 911 and his does great work at a very good price. You go to the dealer you'll be paying many bucks.
