What is your question?
The wrong size tires were put on my car without my permission. And just the front 2. This made the 4x4 slip in and out, engaging and disengaging. And so to “fix” this the same wrong size tire was put on the back two. The tires are not that far off the original tire. Went from a p235/70r16 to a p15/70r16 Everything seemed fine, but now I have a rattle, seems to be coming from the drive shaft. And the 4x4 is engaged again. I could just scream. Is my car ruined now? What could be wrong and how can I fix it? Also…..is the Mariner hybrid a true 4x4 or 4 wheel drive or AWD. Does it have a true 4x4?

Wow, that's very very bad. And detrimental to an all wheel drive system. Yes, different size tires can cause damage when driven for a period of time. It's no good. You need to have your drivetrain evaluated at a local shop near you. The strain on the driveline caused by 2 different size tires being on then vehicle can be severe. Seek help at a shop near you. I will do that! many thanks. Let me ask you this….can I use the smaller width tires or no?
Use ONLY the tire size listed on the tire placard on the drivers door jamb area. All 4 tires must be identical in every way - size, brand, model, ratings, tread depth. Very important.
