2012 Dodge Avenger over heating plus the check engine light on

I have a 2012 Dodge Avenger which the thermostat keeps budging above the midline towards hot , I've had a hose replacement and was told no leaks when checked. Now I'm desling with the check engine light on

Check and make sure the coolant is at the appropriate level. If so, you may have a thermostat that is not completely opening to allow enough coolant to flow through system. It could also be a sensor.
