I have a 2008 silverado Z71 with factory trailer equipment. Awhile back I broke the clip on my factory trailer brake controller, I used super glue until a replacement came. After replacing the controller, I have been getting "service trailer brake system" error messages. I have no codes, checked the fuses, and replaced the relay above the spare tire. as well as the actual controller. I'm thinking the super glue might be causing a short if it got into the plug? I got a 7 Way Blade Trailer Connector Tester with Red LEDs and everything worked(brakes, turn signals, hazards, etc..). Would it be possible to bypass it with an aftermarket? I'm really just wanting the error message gone, I don't pull trailers.
How long has your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 had this problem?

A high quality diagnostic tool with the ability to check chassis and body codes and components should be able to tell you where to direct your inspection or testing. No amount of other hypothesis or guessing could possibly resolve the concern.
Replacement brake controller original equipment manufactures part? GM part?
