What is your question?
My 2008 Chevrolet HHR LT (2.2L) has an overheating issue. The recovery tank remains full and spills through the small vent hole, particularly after driving at high speeds. I need to frequently add coolant to prevent the engine from overheating. Despite replacing the radiator, radiator cap, and various coolant hoses (excluding the upper and lower radiator hoses), the coolant doesn't seem to be returning to the main system from the recovery tank. What could be causing this continuous overflow and lack of coolant circulation?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Particularly after driving at high speeds.
How long has your 2008 Chevrolet HHR had this problem?
A few weeks

Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. The cooling system circulates coolant using the water pump and pulls coolant in naturally as needed -- unless you have a system breach -- either in internal engine coolant leak which is allowing exhaust gases into the cooling system with back pressure due to the breach, or via an air pocket in the cooling system for an unknown reason causing the coolant not to flow properly. Your water pump could be faulty, or you could have an internal engine coolant leak - is what It comes down to for me. Hands on inspection is needed to evaluate. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link or call us at 877-913-1554. We'll gladly find you a certified RepairPal shop in your area.
