2005 GMC Envoy Knocking sound

What is your question?

I recently bought this 2005 GMC Envoy and have just noticed that the engine is making a knocking sound that I did not notice before. It is not too loud and seems to get quieter the longer I drive it. I think the noise is coming from the passenger side near the wheel well? Please help.

What makes this problem better or worse?

it's worse when the engine is cold
