1996 Toyota Corolla key won't turn on 1996 Toyota Corolla

I put my key in the ignition and turn it and I can only get it about half-way to the "accessories" position. The "door open" warning then beeps. And I know my steering wheel is not locked. I can't even get my car into a shop. What do I do? Do you know how I can at least hot-wire it so I can take it into a shop?

Your ignition key cylinder is worn out. You need to get a new one and replace it. Just happened to me. Cost me under $40 and a meal for my big brother to thank him.

I tried to start my car last night and when I turn the key in the ignition, the key physically won't go past ACC and I do get electricity in that mode. Also, my breaks didn't have much air pressure...
have replaced the distributor, igniter,& crankshaft position sensor. The coil will fire once when you release the key after turning the engine over.
