My Wife loves Cadillacs so I bought her a Gorgeous (so I thought) 2001 Deville with 69000 miles on it. We didn't have it 2 days when it started leaking transmission fluid and a little oil. Took it to my buddies (so I thought ) transmission shop. He had it 2 weeks and presented me with a $2578.00 Repair Bill. Basically, he rebuilt 1/2 the Transmission and found a cracked oil pan. I'm 65 and this is the biggest car repair bill I have ever had in my life. So, now I call the Car my 14 year old $6600 Caddy. We'll see what happens next ( I can't wait) but I'm already kicking myself in the butt for buying this Car.I'm sure glad I didn't pay $50K for it new. GM should be ashamed of themselves for building and selling these Nightmares. I have an old Yukon I was going to sell but now I'm keeping as a backup for when this Caddy breaks down next. Just got it out of the shop 2 days ago and now a Check Engine Light.Just Great !!
I have only 77000 miles on my 2001 Deville, currently having multiple problems with power steering, rack and pinion, hoses and pumps, have installed 4 pumps, with another one due to be installed with a separate cooler, on return line. Have had multiple problemns ever since I purchased it new in 2000. Had to replace both head gaskets at 60000 miles, plus it uses 4 quarts of oil between changes ever since new! I could list many opages for the problems that have occurred through the years! Had to replace roof at 55000 mioles because of rusted hole in it!
purchase the 01 cadillac I think 2years ago, used 110,00mile.put back brakes on,water pump and was told before purchase has a small oil leak(quart a week)front brakes, rotaries, starter.factory subwoofer cracked and blown, trunk and gas tank cover fuse blown, now see antifreeze on ground under car, engine light on 2 codes pulled for transmission.i got flushed, screened cleaned, new transmission fluid(changes gear fine)did not follow recommendation from book of maintenance so have to reset to turn off check engine light(hopefully)now it states flush radiator and change spark plugs(got to do it)before it get worst.Have driven on highway with no major problems, since I had it,but at 150,000 repairs are coming up.Parts are not bad but the labor is major price.Won't complain, drives like a boat when taken care of.
Hey cadillac owners gues what i bought one of these lacs they call it with 84,000 miles on it.
MY 2001 CADILLAC DEVILLE HAS BEEN RUNNING HOT , THE RADIATOR IS NEW I YR OLD I REPLACED THE WATERPUMP, THERMOSTAT, AND RAD CAP YESTERDAY. STILL RAN HOT, COOLANT SOME LOW HAD A HARD TIME GETTING AIR OUT OF SYSTEM AND ENOUGH COOLANT IN TO KEEP AT NORMAL TEMP. BUT DID. I NOTICED A SMALL LEAK LOOKS LIKE BETWEEN MOTOR AND HEATER CORE. DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ELSE I COULD CHECK. I NEED A DIAGRAM OF COOLING SYSTEM SHOWING ALL HOSES.
Took the car into dealership for preventative maintenance....just wanted the radiator to be flushed/replace thermostat and gasket. Dealership performed a diagnostic test...I recieved the PHONECALL. they told me that I need to replace the coolant tank because the pressure is low,I asked well, wouldn't a complete radiator flush maybe a new thermostat would make the coolant tank hold the presure?Actually, what the heck is the coolant tank(thought it was the plastic resevoir tank)then I was told the crossover gaskets need to be replaced.Frist of all, there is no oil or coolant leaks inside engine or on the garage floor. The low coolant light came on once, that's why I brought it in...the price of the parts,I can deal with that, but the labor is what drives up the cost.Have you ever heard of the frist problem, low coolant tank...needs to be replaced What happens if I just have the car flushed,I don't drive it in the winter.
This particular vehicle is an 01 DeVille that was purchased from a lease program with 38k miles. It has been a constant source of cost. Several thousands of dollars have been spent . As of late two window regulators have gone bad in a list of so many others.. The dealership is way too high and this vehicle will be traded for something of an Asian persuasion.
save your money, buy a Lincoln. Bought my 01 with 74,000 one owner miles. Too many problems to list. But the worst. Piston rings are shot and it costs $4,000 to replace them or a remanufactured engine is about $3,000 plus about 1200 to install. I have owned my first and last cadillac.
1st owner for my 2001 DHS and after 9 years of great service I now have all of these problems. Like I have read I'm burning Oil 2qt per 1000 miles, My SES light in on and offer every 150 miles. My car will acclorate at times ups to speeds of 60 miles per hour if I don't apply the brake. Car stalls to low idle in winter - not able to Idle above 500 rpm. I have to drive with two feet to kee the car from stalling. My left rear stop working in 2007, rear seat warmed in 2008. Just this week I can't get my blower to come on for HVAC. The rear blower still works but only blows hot air.
brought vehicle in febuary of 2009 and have one year with it already and pretty good so far.and it was used had 110000 miles on it.no prblems
