2003 Cadillac DeVille Problems

Fuel Level Sensor Failure

It is common for the fuel level sensor in the fuel tank read the fuel level incorrectly. The sensor must be replaced to correct the condition. Our technicians recommend having the complete fuel pump module replaced on high mileage vehicles.

Check Engine Light Due to Gas Cap Issue

Illumination of the Check Engine Light may be the result of a loose or worn gas cap.

TCC Inop Due to Internal Transmission Fault

The torque converter clutch (TTC) may stop working due to an internal transmission failure. The Check Engine Light will illuminate if this occurs. Our technicians tell us the transmission will require dis-assembly to correct this concern.

2003 Cadillac DeVille Recalls

Ignition Lock Cylinder Concern

Excess weight on the key ring can cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position without warning, turning off the engine. This defect can also affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. Dealers will install two 13mm key rings and key insert into the vehicle's ignition keys to correct this concern.

GM Recalls 2002-2003 Vehicles Due to Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Failure

GM recalls certain 2002-2003 Cadillac Devillle, Seville, Oldsmobile Aurora, and Pontiac Bonneville vehicles because the fuel tank pressure sensor may fail and cause a fuel leak. In the presence of an ignition source, a fuel leak may result in a fire. Dealers will replace the fuel tank pressure sensor.

Driver's Air Bag May Not Deploy Properly

On 130 vehicles, the driver's air bag may not deploy properly if needed in a crash. Also, the inflator could rupture. This could increase the risk of injury to the driver and other passengers if pieces of the inflator strike them. Dealers will inspect and install a new driver's air bag if needed. The recall began March 11, 2003. The GM recall number is 03008.
